-Purchasing a home should be subject to an electrical inspection. This way you can identify any dangerous electrical faults that could very expensive to repair once the property has been purchased. This inspection can also help you negotiate a lower price if faults are found.
You could also request the electrical inspection be part of the overall pre-purchase inspection which will cover things like heating, kitchen appliances, plumbing, smoke alarms & foundations. This inspection should be performed by a qualified & experienced electrician only.
AFTER BUYING A HOUSE
Keep up regular maintenance to ensure that your appliances, fittings, electrical wiring, earthing connections and switchboard are all in good working order – especially if your property is over 25 years old. If you have had so new electrical installs done on the property, @you will receive a unique Certificate of Compliance or an Electrical Safety Certificate, proof that the work has been tested and checked, ensuring it complies with the regulations.
